Civic Duties and Responsibilities

The strength of a democratic society lies in conscious and aware citizens. By upholding our duties and responsibilities alongside our rights, we can shape a Panchayat filled with cleanliness, security, and equality.

What is Civic Duty? Civic duty refers to the sense of responsibility that every citizen must maintain toward society, the nation, and local self-government institutions. Obeying laws, protecting public property, preserving the environment, paying taxes and fees in a timely manner, and actively participating in community welfare activities are all integral parts of civic duty.

Key Responsibilities of Citizens:

  • Abiding by Laws and Regulations: Complying with the laws, rules, and regulations of the nation, state, and Panchayat is the fundamental responsibility of every citizen.

  • Paying Taxes and Fees: Timely payment of property tax, profession tax, license fees, and other dues empowers the development initiatives of the Panchayat.

  • Protecting Public Property: Safeguarding public assets such as roads, streetlights, public wells, parks, and office premises without causing any damage or loss.

  • Maintaining Hygiene & Waste Management: Disposing of waste only in designated places, segregating waste at the source, and minimizing plastic usage.

  • Environmental Conservation: Keeping water sources free from pollution, planting and nurturing trees, and using natural resources responsibly.

  • Active Civic Participation: Attending Gramasabhas and Ward Sabhas, sharing opinions, and actively collaborating in community development projects.

  • Prevent pollution of public water bodies, roads, drainage canals, and public spaces.
