My Waste, My Responsibility: Let’s join hands for a green Upputhara...
A beautiful and healthy village is the dream of each one of us. To make that dream a reality, Upputhara Grama Panchayat is implementing a comprehensive waste management campaign titled "My Waste, My Responsibility." This people's movement begins from the realization that properly managing the waste generated in our homes and institutions is not someone else’s duty, but the responsibility of every one of us who produces it.
What should we do?
To make our panchayat waste-free, every citizen must make the following a part of daily life:
Source-Level Waste Management: Process biodegradable waste such as food leftovers and vegetable peels at home itself using compost pits and biogas plants.
Let’s Segregate Waste: Keep non-biodegradable waste such as plastic, bottles, paper, and e-waste separately, without mixing them with biodegradable waste.
Seek the Help of the Haritha Karma Sena: Hand over the segregated non-biodegradable waste to the Haritha Karma Sena (HKS) in your ward at the scheduled intervals. Consider the small user fee fixed for this as an investment in the cleanliness of our village.
Protect Public Spaces: Do not throw waste on roadsides, in rivers, or in other public places. Since burning plastic and other waste causes air pollution and deadly diseases, avoid it completely.
Follow the Green Protocol
Strictly follow the Green Protocol (Haritha Chattam) in weddings, festivals, and other public/private functions by completely avoiding plastic/thermocol disposable plates. Make it a habit to use reusable plates and cloth bags.
Remember: We should make this change not out of fear of legal action or fines, but to gift our future generations a good village with clean air and pure water, free from diseases.
Full cooperation from all citizens, traders, and voluntary organizations is requested to achieve the goal of a Waste-Free Upputhara.
